Equine Reproductive Surgery
A two-day English-language course "Reproductive Surgery" takes place in Warendorf-Milte, Germany on Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th, 2021. The practice-oriented course is addressed to colleagues, aiming to deepen their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in equine reproductive tract surgery.
On Tuesday, the use of laparoscopy for ovariectomy and cryptorchidectomy, blocked oviducts, postpartum haemorrhage and uteropexy is presented in practice-oriented lectures. In the session "Flops, Failures and Fumbles", the internationally recognized and well-experienced speakers report on complications of castration. In the afternoon, lectures focus on uterine torsion, caesarean section, urinary bladder and uterine prolapse and surgery of the female perineum and rectal tears. A discussion of clnical cases from the entire spectrum of surgery of the reproductive tract closes the first day of the seminar.
On Wednesday, practical hands-on courses in small groups allow demonstration and the practical implementation of laparoscopic techniques (ovariectomy, cryptorchidectomy) and surgery of the female external genitalia (perineoplasty, third-degree perinael lacerations, rectovestibular fistula) on a teaching model ("black box") and patients.
A visit of the European Dressage Championships in nearby Hagen is planned as a special socializing highlight (presuming the Corona Protection rules allow spectators at equestrian events in September).
